Long distances, heavy loads, extreme climates: a 4x4 demands the best from every piece of equipment, and nothing should be left to chance. Most shock absorbers are unable to meet these needs.
It's precisely in these situations that ARB's Old Man Emu (OME) shock absorbers make the difference, all over the world. We understand the challenges a suspension must overcome, especially when it comes to track driving, which brings its own set of difficulties. Every 4x4 owner dreams of shock absorbers that can hold up just as well on the road during the week as they do on the track come weekend.
That's why we developed the ultimate all-around shock absorber.
Designed and manufactured by ARB's suspension engineers OME, the MT64 brilliantly combines the proven reliability of the Nitrocharger with the robustness of the high-end BP-51, to become an ideal shock absorber for all occasions.

MT64 SHOCK ABSORBER FEATURES

DRIVING FLEXIBILITY

The exceptional 64 mm (2.5 in) internal diameter allows for increased oil volume, piston size, and shim stacks to reduce heat buildup and improve stroke control. The result: a smoother ride

EXCELLENT RESISTANCE

Manufactured from the same premium aluminum as our high-performance BP-51 for efficient heat dissipation, the MT64 also features a 22.5mm piston rod for unparalleled stability.

COMFORT AT ALL LEVELS

Comfortable for everyday driving, the MT64 also includes a hydraulic stop at the end of the piston for better damping when it reaches full extension, to compensate for any unexpected bumps.

ADJUSTABLE BODY HEIGHT ACCORDING TO LOAD

Using grooves machined into the shock absorber cylinder, OME engineers have provided the ability to adjust the pad Coil spring in 6 different positions, in 5 mm steps, so that one and the same Coil spring helical can accommodate the additional weight of any accessories

MT64 VS Nitrocharger Sport (What's the Difference?)

Our popular Nitrocharger range features a twin-tube design, unlike the MT64, where we opted for a monotube design. The MT64 boasts an impressive 64mm internal diameter, giving our engineers the flexibility to perfectly match the shock absorber to any vehicle platform. This results in a drastic increase in control and comfort. Due to the large internal oil reservoir, the MT64 provides consistent damping performance over a wide temperature range, allowing you to ride for as long as you need. The MT64 also features an anodized aluminum cylinder, a material that dissipates heat 15 times faster and is 1.3 times lighter than steel, while also providing improved corrosion resistance.

 Is MT64 adjustable?

The Old Man Emu team has fine-tuned the MT64 to the millimeter to adapt it to each vehicle and offer multiple shock absorber options for your off-roader. Our OME engineers have taken care of all the adjustments to create a range of shock absorbers compatible with multiple vehicle configurations in terms of accessories and load. They have relied in particular on the pad of Coil spring adjustable, which allows you to change the vehicle's height when adding or removing accessories. If you want reliable equipment that doesn't require any subsequent adjustments, the MT64 is for you.

What is the difference between a Twin Tube vs MonoTube Suspension?

As the name suggests, the twin tube design features a second tube inside the shock absorber to separate the oil from the nitrogen gas. This is a proven technology that works very well, but it has its limitations in terms of oil volume and adjustment capabilities, as the presence of a second tube reduces the size of the piston and restricts the overall internal volume. A monotube shock absorber consists of a unique structure with a floating piston at the top of the cylinder to separate the oil from the nitrogen gas. This drastically increases the amount of oil inside the shock absorber. This not only limits the loss of efficiency, but also increases the overall size of the piston. This increase in dimensions gives our engineers all the latitude they need to perfectly tune your vehicle.

What does MT64 mean?

The MT64 shock absorber gets its name from its structure. MT is short for "monotube," referring to the single-tube design of these shock absorbers. 64 refers to its impressive internal diameter of 64 millimeters (2.5 inches).

Why Natural Rubber Silent Blocks?

With their outstanding noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) characteristics, the bushings limit the stimuli sent to the driver by the suspension components. Integrated into a double-link bushing design, the MT64 achieves peaks of robustness without sacrificing comfort.
